AE Aurigae e a Nebula Estrela Flamejante

Explicação: AE Aurigae é a estrela brilhante abaixo e à esquerda do centro neste retrato evocativo do IC 405, também conhecida como a Estrela Flamejante Nebula. Incorporado na nuvem cósmica, a quente, ó estrela variável do tipo energiza o brilho de hidrogênio ao longo dos filamentos de gás complicado atômica, a luz da estrela azul espalhada pela poeira interestelar.

Mas AE Aurigae não foi formado na nebulosa que ilumina. Reconstituindo o movimento da estrela através do espaço, os astrônomos concluíram que AE Aurigae provavelmente nasceu na nebulosa de Orion.

Contatos Imediatos gravitacional com outras estrelas é ejectado da região, juntamente com outra estrela O, Mu Columbae, mais de dois milhões de anos atrás.

As estrelas do fugitivo se afastaram em direções opostas, desde então, separar a cerca de 200 quilômetros por segundo. Esta imagem nítida e detalhada do IC 405 se estende por mais 5 anos-luz à distância estimada da nebulosa de 1.500 anos-luz na constelação do norte Auriga, o cocheiro.

Explanation: AE Aurigae is the bright star below and left of center in this evocative portrait of IC 405, also known as the Flaming Star Nebula. Embedded in the cosmic cloud, the hot, variable O-type star energizes the glow of hydrogen along convoluted filaments of atomic gas, its blue starlight scattered by interstellar dust. But AE Aurigae wasn't formed in the nebula it illuminates. Retracing the star's motion through space, astronomers conclude that AE Aurigae was probably born in the Orion Nebula. Close gravitational encounters with other stars ejected it from the region, along with another O star, Mu Columbae, over two million years ago. The runaway stars have drifted in opposite directions ever since, separating at about 200 kilometers per second. This sharp, detailed image of IC 405 spans over 5 light-years at the nebula's estimated distance of 1,500 light-years in the northern constellation Auriga, the Charioteer.
